Emergency Preparedness Committee

	Mandate: to have in place a protocol should an emergency situation arise
	Chairperson: Bruce Wylie
	Members: Bill Evans

The Emergency Preparedness Committee:

	works with all emergency service providers to try to ensure we are adequately prepared in case of a major emergency and have adequate service for general emergencies
	maintains a database that will be available to emergency response personnel in the event of a major event. This database lists people that may have special needs and also locates equipment that may be useful in an emergency.
	helped in funding the emergency generator at Nanoose Place which is the designated emergency shelter for this area.

Government Relations Committee

	Mandate: to liaise with the Regional District of Nanaimo & Fairwinds Development Corporation
	Chairperson: Milt Pearson

Government Relations Committee:

	works with Fairwinds and the RDN to attempt to ensure that resident's concerns regarding ongoing development are addressed.
	represents the community at forums such as Regional Strategic Planning Session and Official Community Plan.
	meets regularly with the other residents associations on the peninsula and the RDN area director to discuss issues of joint concern.
	is investigating alternate municipal government alternatives that may be required in future years.

Community Advisory Group

	Mandate:

Community Advisory Group

attends forums and meetings that have our community interests at heart.

Membership Committee

	Mandate: development of membership for the FCA
	Chairperson: Caryl Wylie

The Membership Committee:

	works to ensure all residents are offered the opportunity to express their concerns in a proactive environment
	we are striving to have 100% of the community involved.

Grassroots & Parks Committee

	Mandate: to work for the betterment of our community parks and to liaise with District 69 Parks and Recreation Dept. to promote this objective.
	Chairperson(s): Walter Clark, Cliff Hinton

The Grassroots & Parks Committee:

	currently is organizing work groups to improve and maintain boulevards and Park spaces.
	works with Emcon to monitor and ensure an appropriate level of maintenance of the roads
	works with RDN Parks department to try to ensure safe and usable park space.

Social Committee

	Mandate: to organize social functions and events
	Chairperson: TBA

The Social Committee:

hosts an annual Christmas Party to provide an opportunity for all residents to join in celebrating the season. This event raised $15,000 for a local charity (Society of Organized Services) last year.

Water Committee - Quality & Quantity

	Mandate: to gather information about the water system in the community
	Chairperson: Bob Popple

The Water Quality & Quantity Committee:

	has worked with the RDN and Fairwinds to significantly improve the volume of water that is available to the community.
	continues to work with the RDN and Province to find a solution to the water discoloration issue.
	continues to work with the RDN and Province to ensure an adequate supply of safe drinking water in future years.

Water Committee - Conservation

	Mandate: to promote water conservation
	Chairperson: Bob Popple
	Members: Joe Straka, Marian Slayter, Mike Donnelly, Bill Larner

The Water Conservation Committee -

	has hosted two annual Water Conservation and Gardening Fairs to promote and teach water conservation in our homes and gardens.
	actively participates in TEAM WATERSMART to promote water conservation through information handouts, seminars and water audits.

Building Scheme Committee

	Mandate: to give information to those community members building or re-roofing their homes so that they conform with the registered building schemes.
	Chairperson: Keith Thompson

Building Scheme Committee

	has copies of all phase building guidelines available to see
	works with community members needing to re-roof or make alterations to their existing home.
