Emergency Preparedness Committee
bulletMandate:  to have in place a protocol should an emergency situation arise

  The Emergency Preparedness Committee:
bulletworks with all emergency service providers to try to ensure we are adequately prepared in case of a major emergency and have adequate service for general emergencies
bulletmaintains a database that will be available to emergency response personnel in the event of a major event.  This database lists people that may have special needs and also locates equipment that may be useful in an emergency.
bullethelped in funding the emergency generator at Nanoose Place which is the designated emergency shelter for this area.
   
Government Relations Committee
bulletMandate: to liaise with the Regional District of Nanaimo & Fairwinds Development Corporation

  Government Relations Committee:
bulletworks with Fairwinds and the RDN to attempt to ensure that resident's concerns regarding ongoing development are addressed.
bulletrepresents the community at forums such as Regional Strategic Planning Session and Official Community Plan.
bulletmeets regularly with the other residents associations on the peninsula and the RDN area director to discuss issues of joint concern.
bulletis investigating alternate municipal government alternatives that may be required in future years.

Grassroots & Parks Committee
bulletMandate: to work for the betterment of our community parks and to liaise with District 69 Parks and Recreation Dept. to promote this objective.

bulletcurrently is organizing work groups to improve and maintain boulevards and Park spaces.
bulletworks with Emcon to monitor and ensure an appropriate level of maintenance of the roads
bulletworks with RDN Parks department to try to ensure safe and usable park space.
   
Social Committee

  The Social Committee:
bullethosts an annual Christmas Party to provide an opportunity for all residents to join in celebrating the season.  This event raised $15,000 for a local charity (Society of Organized Services) last year.
   
Water Committee - Quality & Quantity

  The Water Quality & Quantity Committee:
bullethas worked with the RDN and Fairwinds to significantly improve the volume of water that is available to the community.
bulletcontinues to work with the RDN and Province to find a solution to the water discoloration issue.
bulletcontinues to work with the RDN and Province to ensure an adequate supply of safe drinking water in future years.
   
Water Committee - Conservation

  The Water Conservation Committee -
bullethas hosted two annual Water Conservation and Gardening Fairs to promote and teach water conservation in our homes and gardens.
bulletactively participates in TEAM WATERSMART to promote water conservation through information handouts, seminars and water audits.
   
Building Scheme Committee
bulletMandate:  to give information to those community members building or re-roofing their homes so that they conform with the registered building schemes.

bulletworks with community members needing to re-roof or make alterations to their existing home.
